Joe Henslee

Joseph Henslee, President and Founder of Amwest Mortgage, Inc., has built the company on the concept that the right loan program is the key to customer satisfaction. By listening carefully to each borrower and asking the right questions for each loan scenario, the most effective loan choices can be suggested and evaluated. With a focus on the client’s long term financial needs and specific objectives, the final loan product can be chosen by each borrower with complete confidence.

Joe believes that, “Your home is probably the single biggest financial investment you will ever make. Having the best information and support when arranging the financing for your home can save you thousands of dollars over the life of your loan.”

Establishing Amwest Mortgage, Inc. in 1994, Joe maintains a ‘hands on’ management role. He has been helping people make intelligent real estate financing choices since 1981. He has personally, successfully completed thousands of loan transactions during his career while earning real estate licenses in California, Nevada and Arizona.

Joe and his wife Babette have lived at Lake Tahoe since 1979. Babette has been the CFO of Amwest Mortgage, Inc. since its inception and continues to oversee and operate the company’s financial workings.

Having served his country in the US Army from 1966 to 1969, Joe is a Viet Nam veteran. Joe is also very active in the community. He served as president of the Kiwanis Club of North Lake Tahoe in 2003, was voted ‘Kiwanian of the Year’ in 2005 and is a member of The North Lake Tahoe Visitors Association and the Tahoe City Downtown Association. Joe is also a member in good standing of the Northern Nevada Better Business Bureau, The California Association of Mortgage Brokers and the National Association of Mortgage Brokers.

As a long time Tahoe local, Joe enjoys boating on the lake, cross country skiing, hikes with his chocolate lab, Molly and playing chess and guitar.
